Readings, Reconnections and Random Foo
The campus is quiet with summer upon it. The distant chatter of the construction crews making repairs and renovation to our buildings, but I felt almost alone as I walked around a bit since I was my typical early to a meeting self. I had arrived on campus to get a tour of our school’s Permanent Collection, and wow, did it inspire and surprise me.
I decided to take some photos and then kicked back to read for a bit. I’ve been reading a ton since hitting the summer break.
I try to read for at least thirty minutes every day. Lately, I’ve been finishing one book and then instantly starting another one from my library. If curious, I keep track of my reading on Goodreads.
For instance, yesterday, I finished For White Folks Who Teach in the Hood... and the Rest of Y'all Too: Reality Pedagogy and Urban Education and then jumped right into the new collection of essays from John Green. Recently, I flew through The Midnight Library and sadly didn’t enjoy Freedom or Brat as much as I was hoping to, even though they were both good reads.
As you can see, I like to read a variety of books. There is so much great non-fiction out there right now that traditional back and forth isn’t finding me reading as much fiction as I’d like. So, if you have any suggestions, please let me know.
This morning I did an interview with an old friend about a movie he made twenty years ago. I can’t believe that it has been that long, and at the same time, it feels like yesterday that we were on set. It is nothing you’ve heard of unless you were part of the Foo universe at the time. But, going back and forth about the fun on set and the crazy times we shared was a lot of fun.
Tomorrow, I’m headed up to see my sister’s new house, and Thursday, I’ll be having dinner with a dear friend that I haven’t seen in several years.
Needless to say, this is a crazy and strange week, and I love it. I also appreciate every moment of it because a year ago, none of this would have been possible, and I wasn’t sure we’d ever get to where we are now.
Every day I’m thankful for what I’m doing and what is to come. I’ve always been thankful for every moment I’m given, but that appreciation is even deeper today as we emerge from our pandemic cacoons.
I hope are you are well. I hope you are smiling. I hope you have an amazing week.
